In Nena Kapone’s song Ladies Woman, she captures the essence of what the Rainbow Family is all about. Nena embarked on a journey to use music as a gateway for those who don’t feel like they have a voice.  She delivers a powerful message in “Ladies Woman”, rapping about the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community. With lyrics such as; “I am who I am”, “God loves me”, and “be who you are” the song gives a powerful overall feeling of acceptance.

Misfit Music Presents: Starr’s Album Release

Whenever Misfit Music is involved with putting on a hip hop show, you can expect greatness. Controversy the Misfit in particular, knows exactly what he’s doing.  Friday, April 25th was no exception.  Upon arrival to Charley’s in Tacoma, WA there was a sense of familiarity in this new place.

A true, diverse hip hop family was once again brought together by the love of music and the dedication of everyone involved. By 12:30 am, the city police weren’t allowing anyone else into the venue.  With over 400 people in attendance and a line that wrapped around the building, Starr’s album release party was a huge success.

Controversy opened the show, with a powerful force of energy.  The camera crew had a difficult time filming the set, as he was bouncing all over the place, interacting with his friends, family and fans.  Blak followed Controversy’s set with the same intensity. His electrifying lyrics and powerful disposition led the way for Frankie Hustle and the entire B.M.E family to take center stage. Block Mogul Entertainment is a force to be reckoned with. It is undeniable that when B.M.E hits the stage everyone acknowledges their presence. The energy in Charley’s was already in place when Starr finally took the stage.  With over 400 people showing there support, there’s no doubt that place was feeling the effects of bona fide hip hop.

A successful event of local stars brought together a vastly unique family.  A true night of love and music.  Controversy is the definition of Misfit Music and a phrase to live by: S.upreme C.onfidence W.ins O.ver E.verything.
