25 year old Adam Gilmore is bringing something different to the local music scene.  The name Angelfelt, which started as his garage band while still in high school, has now developed into his solo artist career. Born in Ireland, Angelfelt grew up inspired by a vast array of music.  He reflects on the nights he’d fall asleep to the sounds of his father playing the violin.

Angelfelt, who joined the military in 2006, spent 7 years serving our country.  He indured many of the hardships associated with being a soldier as well as everyday life.  From divorce and not seeing his son for 2 years to being shot and blown up on several occasions.  A strong man who suffers from severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, he used music as a way to cope. He says, “its how I fought my demons from war.”

After his first deployment and 6 straight days and nights of severe PTSD symptoms, Angelfelt contemplated suicide.  Instead, he downloaded Protools and produced a beat. A beat that inspired him to write a song titled,  “War Inside.”  During the second deployment, Angelfelt learned of his father’s passing and in the same month lost his best friend.  These events lead to the emotional song, “War Man’s Prayer.”

Angelfelt’s biggest goal in creating his music, is to touch other people’s hearts and give them a new way to cope with PTSD. A fresh look at life from a soldier’s perspective, his music is inspiring and selfless.

Although the music is a different form of alternative, you can expect some hip hop collaborations soon. A style comperative to Linkin Park, but with a new and exciting twist.

Keep a look out for Angelfelt’s EP, dropping in the summer of 2014 titled “To See Wide Open”.
